The Spitting Ejection

I dispute the ejection for spitting with all my heart. There is a tacit exchange of blood, sweat, and tears the entire game between these guys. Is saliva all of the sudden out of bounds?

I couldn't tell when Taylor spit on Pittman, but I can tell you when Pittman clearly hit Taylor in the face. The fact that Pittman continued unpunished after clocking a player is stunning.

Well, they always get the guy who hits first or in this case, spits first.

No excuses for ST, spitting in guy's face is dispicable.

It is an automatic ejection, but from all replays, it appears only the ref, Taylor or Pittman truly know what happened.

Why? I'd say throwing a punch is worse. Does more damage.

Yeah it was stupid of ST to do that, but it should have been OFF-SETTING penalties.

I can not believe you people are taking up for his actions. If anyone from another team spat on a player of ours you would be going nuts calling for their heads. Stop being homers and accept the fact it was a class thing to do, if he did it. The ref that called that game is a very well respected ref in the NFL. I wouldn't have penalized pittman either. Somebody spits in my face, its going to get ugly, REAL UGLY.

Re: The Spitting Ejection

Washpost reports Taylor will receive a fine of $17,000.

End of story.

Everyone go home. Nothing to see here.

Move along people.

Who cares if he is respected or not? Can't he make a mistake? And sorry but it is against the rules to engage in a physical altercation during game. For any reason. Not penalizing a guy is saying well you can't take a swing at a guy unless he really deserves it and then it's all cool. That's BS. You take a swing you get a penalty for any reason. Not just the ones that seem ok at the time. Swing = against the rules. Is it ok to chop block a guy because he said something about your family? Or maybe you could just break a guys finger in a pile up because he pissed you off by using some color racial language. In both these cases the victim had done pretty dispicable things but you don't get the option of retaliating. The rule is there to stop retaliating! I won't even argue whether he spit or not anymore. It doesn't matter. Pittman deserves a penalty there and Carey loses my respect for not calling it both ways. It is a CLEAR missed call so why should we trust the NFL would be honest about it. They are in the publicity game and publicly admitting that "hey our Ref blew that one" is never going to happen. They'll back Carey no matter what he says because they have to. If Carey said Taylor had bent Pittman and had his way with him the league would probably go with that. I have no doubt that Carey THOUGHT Taylor did something but I have no doubt that Mike Carey was wrong and it will never be admitted.

like i said in the other thread
----
i honestly didn't see anything. I do however think it is was possible that while yelling a little bit of spit flew out his mouth. I just didin't see anything. You got to be a stone cold mother ****er to spit on someone and not even move. His head didn't jerk forward. Spit on something go ahead in anger. your head has to move. it has to. But Sean is one stonned cold mother ****er

Re: The Spitting Ejection

When the flag was tossed and the ejection announced, you did not see the ten other Redskins on the field at the time going ballistic over a wrong call.

When Taylor went to the sidelines, you did not see Gregg Williams or Joe Gibbs about to burst a blood vessel in the brain as they screeched at the officials.

The incident happened about 20 hours ago and you have not heard Gibbs or Williams - - or even Danny Boy - - stand up behind a microphone and say that the call and the penalty and the ejection were horrendous and that this is an example of poor officiating and that Sean Taylor is being picked on by the refs.

IF HE DIDN'T SPIT, you would have heard/seen all of those things...

Someone asked if there was a rule against spitting. I do not have a current NFL Rule Book here, but from memory I believe that ejection MAY happen for ANY unsportsmanlilke conduct call. And that decision is at the referee's discretion.
