Sue Me, Sue You

I know we have some current and prospective lawyers here. Leaving aside whether or not it would be prudent or popular, what is the likelihood that a Federal Judge would issue an injunction against this deadline? Does the fact that it was a part of a CBA outweigh its questionable legality? Just a thought.

I believe the current CBA precludes the filing of a suit by the NFLPA or any players that would seek an injunction. So, the only people who have standing to sue are barred from doing so.

What about Mr. Snyder of Pro Football Inc. (Do they still call it that?)

I believe disputes between the NFL management, NFL owners, and NFLPA have to be settled via binding arbitration. Federal judges have no right to step in and issue an injunction because of this arbitration clause.

I could be wrong, but that is my understanding of the CBA.

The 11th and 13th amendments barred slavery after the Civil War, but they also strict guidlines for employment contracts. No court will make americans work ever. Under strict circumstances, they may make someone fulfill an existing contract, but they certainly wont make an employee continue to fulfill his last contract.
I am not an employment lawyer.

the dead cba runs through 2007... the deadline is arbitrary and both sides are agreeing to the delays. so i'd guess close to 0%.
