Re: Clinton Portis To Announce Retirement
Are the Skins the last team he played for? Seems like he got pickup after he left the Skins. Maybe he just worked out for other teams and I have my facts wrong.
Anyone think he is HoF worthy? |

Re: Clinton Portis To Announce Retirement
I think Portis worked out for New England at some point in 2011 but wasn't signed to a contract. He was a very, very good running back. I wished he could have toppled the 10,000 yard rushing mark though.

Nice career for #26, definitely one of the best backs we've had

Re: Clinton Portis To Announce Retirement
Glad he retired a Redskin. He was one of my favorite Skins players ever.
He worked out for other teams but was never signed. The Patriots were one of them. I definitely think he put up HOF numbers. He should be inducted, not first year but he should make it in after a few years. 27th all time in yards. It's a shame he couldn't stay healthy one more season to hit 10,000 yards (just 77 yards away) and pass Riggins as all-time rusher for our team. That would've probably locked him into the Hall. His 75 rushing TDs were just outside the Top 20 all-time also. NFL Career Rushing Yards Leaders - Pro-Football-Reference.com

Re: Clinton Portis To Announce Retirement
I think it's cool he's choosing to retire with us. Shame his career ended the way it did though. As far as HOF-worthy, even though I love what he did for us while he was there, I don't see it happening. I'd give him one of the 80 greatest Redskins spots though. Even though there were a lot of fans upset with him during his time here, I wasn't one of them. I hope he has a lot of success in his next career path, wherever that is.

Re: Clinton Portis To Announce Retirement
Glad to hear he's hanging it up as a Skin. I don't think CP is a HOF back but none the less a very very good one.

Deuces 26, one of my personal favs, had some good games against the boys and when we needed it the most.

Re: Clinton Portis To Announce Retirement
Translation: Nobody wanted my lazy ass anymore so I'm forced to quit the game. It's ok though, my pockets straight. For about 3 years at least.
Dude had the chance to get picked up when he got cut here, but he chose to roll into people's camps out of shape thinking he'd be a shoo in to get picked up. I'm glad his ego got knocked back down to reality.

Re: Clinton Portis To Announce Retirement
Although I would have preferred to keep Champ Bailey, Clinton Portis played well for us during his career as a Redskin.
