Good to hear people are buying in. If we get better play in the secondary and stay healthy up front, no excuse we cant be a top 5 defense.

Morris can't work miracles. It's going to be a long year in the secondary. Hopefully we'll have a strong pass rush to help out.

Perhaps he can.

When he returned to Tampa Bay in 2007, he took them from 19th ranked pass defense --> to the top ranked pass defense in one year. It's great to have a former head coach / D-coordinator take a small position like this -- hope he rejuvenates our secondary. Hard to know what to expect since it seems we're giving him average talent, but perhaps if he uses them correctly - I'm hoping they overperform this year.

And yet, I'd wager that IF we struggle this year, it will most likely be due to this troubled secondary. RG3 should help our offense, but might not be able to keep up if other offenses score 50 points in games like in the past. In this pass-driven league, there is no substitute for a good / deep secondary and bruising D-line. We also have concerns in O-line, LB depth, RB, a number one WR -- but I'd say the secondary dwarfs the other issues.

Hope Morris helps & stays for a while.

I was reading somewhere (might have been here) that Meriweather has been turning heads with his quality of play. That is a good sign!

Shanny may have given Morris lemons, but given what he was able to do as a secondary coach in TB, he might be able to make lemonade.

Even some of the ES insider guys have mentioned this the past couple months. Not saying it will happen, but they are obviously interested.

Great!! Talib and Hall, 2 punks = lots of personal fouls and bonehead plays.

Well Hall is a bit of a punk on the field but at least he's not a threat to society. Talib appears to be a bad dude all together. Talented guy and I know that every player can't be London Fletcher in terms of charactr.... but c'mon front office! This dude is just straight up trouble.

Re: Raheem Morris Implementing Changes to Secondary

i beleive our secondary will be much better than last year, Raheem is known for bringing energy and getting the best out of his players, although i do wish we kept LaRon and gave him one more chane I really do think our secondary will be just fine. From the sounds of it Merriweather seems to be on track to return to his Pro Bowl form, he has the ability. The player I am most excited to see is under rated Tanard Jackson, he is a true ballhawk something we havent had in sometime, he has a nose for the ball and will playmake and create turnovers.

Re: Raheem Morris Implementing Changes to Secondary

As long as this new philosophy helps improve the secondary I don't care who starts or which defensive backs play in the defensive backfield. I want to see less big plays given up, more interceptions, and more hard hitting.

Re: Raheem Morris Implementing Changes to Secondary

It is good that we got Raheem Morris. It will lead to smarter play in the secondary.
Haslett is not good (terrible) at calling secondary plays. It is his weakness in fact. I still remember the 3rd and 20+ yards play against Dallas two season ago and Haslett called an all out blitz. Haslett called three all out blitzed in a row and we got burned. Let Hasslett run the front seven, the former LB is more comfortable with.

I am concerned about the players we got for our secondary. I never liked the CB Wilson for Carlos Rogers change. That was a downgrade. Now the safety position is really a big question mark. Hopefully it will pan out. But it will be a long season season if our secondary is weak. Hopefully the pass rush can make up for the inexperience and retreads we have back there.

Like to see Barnes play the boundry corner rather than the slot and move D Hall inside.
