Bill Musgrave's Impact
I don't remember this being discussed here before but Bill Musgrave should get a ton of credit for turning around Brunell's career...again...and also with Patrick Ramsey's development. This guy was an unheralded signing this past offseason and I think he is quietly doing an outstanding job. One of Joe Gibbs' strengths has always been putting good people in key coaching positions.
I can't think of any other reason Brunell has been so much different this year. He said he wasn't hurt last year. Why would he lie? |

And convincing Gibbs to use the shotgun.

Re: Bill Musgrave's Impact
Interesting comment about Musgrave. I think, indirectly, Santana Moss has been a big benefactor of Musgrave being on the staff.
What I mean by this is, I think Musgrave more than any other coordinator has helped Gibbs tweek his schemes a little here and there. |

Re: Bill Musgrave's Impact
I think Musgrave should be a strong candidate for Offensive Coord. when Gibbs leaves. Hell, they ought to think about demoting Breaux and Burns to consultants and make Musgrave Offensive Coord. next season...or at least give him a title that sounds more important..how about "deputy assistant head coach" or some such gibberish.

Re: Bill Musgrave's Impact
My hats off to Musgrave...he's made a bigger impression on the offense and the quarterbacks than what I gave him credit for in the beginning.

Re: Bill Musgrave's Impact
Unless you guys have inside knowledge this is all supposition. I haven't heard or read anything that would indicate Musgrave has had a big influence on anything.

Re: Bill Musgrave's Impact
I don't really know how much of a presence Musgrave has had in this offensive turnaround. All he is (officially) is an offensive assitant slash qb coach. What kind of things has he done, specifically, that Ernest Byner, Jack Burns, Don Breaux, & Rennie Simmons have not?

One change that took place this year (I believe) is that Burns took over the majority of the play calling and as the season has progressed I'd say it ahs gotten better and better. Anyone know what the play calling structure was last year versus this year? |

Re: Bill Musgrave's Impact
I still wish we would impliment the quick draw into the game plan, I believe this would really utilize Portis's running abilities, as well as help slow down the pass rush with the fake.
