Happy Birthday, Dad
I have been blessed to have been raised a Redskins fan by one of the finest people I'll ever have the chance to meet - my father Bill Lee. He has been a mentor, a friend, an ATM, and a true fan of this franchise.
We've gone to six home games (including preseason) together this year, and will certainly try to do the same and more next year. He leaves the stadium as hoarse as I do, and has never been embarassed by my shouts and cheers. December 18th was his 70th birthday, and the Washington Redskins gave him a gift that I never could (though, frankly, I did pay for that missed field goal). As he said after the game "I've had a lot of birthdays - I intend to have a lot more. We don't sweep the Cowboys that often, and never like that." So, thank you Redskins everywhere. And don't screw up my Christmas.

Re: Happy Birthday, Dad
Congrats to your Dad Brud. There is something really special about sharing a football addiction with your Dad.
My Dad is a 1st generation fan as he spent most of his youth moving around while in the Air Force. He moved to the DC area when I was 6 and retired there when I was 9. He started rooting for the Skins from the beginning and some of my best memories are sitting around with him watching the Skins. We only went to a few games together b/c we didn't have season tix, but each one was special. Now, I drag him to at least a game a year (he has gotten a bit curmudgeonly in his twilight years and prefers the comfort of his home on game days), and look forward to the days when I can take MY son to the games. Happy Birthday to your Dad. P.S. - My 2 1/2 year old son greeted me at the door after the game yesterday by saying "Go Skins" and "We kicked Dallas butt". It brought tears to my eyes. |
