Predictions for Preseaon game #3 versus the Steelers
Eventhough the game is meaningless the performances are not. Does anyone have any predictions about how we'll fare against the best team we'll face in the preseason. Will Arrington shine? Will the Steel Curtain darken Ramsey's day? Can our D stop the steelers running game?

Re: Predictions for Preseaon game #3 versus the Steelers
My predictions. If the first team plays for three quarters: Steelers 21, Redskins 10.
I 'm convinced that Coach Gibbs is not comfortable with Ramsey at QB. This has been the dilemma of our offense. Injuries will continue to keep several first team players on the sidelines, I almost never predict our defeat, but there is no cohesion with the offense as of yet.

Re: Predictions for Preseaon game #3 versus the Steelers
I share SUNRA's sentiments/predictions. The offense will be no match for the Steelers' great defense.
However, I've watched the Bengals game several times over and I've been actually impressed. I give a TON of credit to Gibbs for revamping the offense - it looks nothing like it did last season. I especially like all the deep balls. I think the deep passing attack should open stuff up for Portis. Ramsey made 3-4 really bad throws, but he also made a bunch of really good throws as well. He's hot and then cold. If Ramsey ever gets his mental game to match his physical abilities, he'll be stud. IMHO, mental sharpness only comes through experience - something which Gibbs is going to give Ramsey. But, I highly doubt our offense (and Ramsey in particular) will look sharp against Pitt. |

Re: Predictions for Preseaon game #3 versus the Steelers
what i would like to see happen, is our offense play like they did last week, minus the turnovers. clinton portis have a good game, get back into the system, and we beat the steelers. no turnovers and no injuries is what i'm hoping for.

Play smart, win the TO battle, and hold our own. It's going to be tough against their 1st string D--not expecting another 200-yard half or anything. But play smart football.
Be nice to see our D show that it's a top 10 D as well. Also, Lavar will be back. I just can't wait to see him out there!

Scrubs, and backups need great performances for evaluation purposes only! The scores are meaningless. Plays are vanilla, and there is no game planning. Everyone puts too much em-pha-sis on PS!

Though I don't drink from the kool-aid like some of you guys (Redskins 34-10...come on, get real!)...I think it will be a close game.
My thought is that Gibbs will get the guys really keyed up for this game. He and the coaching staff will essentially see it as: "If we can beat pitt 1st string against 1st string", we've got a real shot at the playoffs this year...our formula works (although it may need some tweaks here and there) I think it will be close, the team will rise to the challenge and play a physical game, though the give-aways (both fumbles and Ramsey INTs will be the determining factor.) For those that say pre-season doesn't matter...you're high .

Re: Predictions for Preseaon game #3 versus the Steelers
I'd like to see our defense stop Jerome Bettis. He rumbled for 100+ yards against us last year. We shut down Rudi Johnson pretty well last week, I want to see Bettis get slowed down and then I'll feel real confident about the defense.
I'd like to see deep accuracy from Ramsey, but more importantly, I'd like to see smart decisions. If the receiver isn't open, I'd rather see him throw it away. I'd rather punt than risk an interception. I actually don't want to see too much of Clinton Portis. He's too valuable, I really don't want to see him get hurt. I think having him get hurt would kill us as bad as Vick's injury killed the Falcons in 2003. |
