Re: Rock or Nemo?

Rock's just not big enough, though I like his pass catching ability. We need someone to punch the ball in the end zone and get first downs when it's 3rd and 1. I say keep Nemo, he's 250+ pounds.

Nemo! He has better size and better speed (I think). I love Rock, but I think Nemo has more to offer in terms of playmaking ability, and on special teams.

Me too.

I was disappointed they didn't include him and White, but I'm sure both will be included on roster updates assuming they both make the team.

Re: Rock or Nemo?

I like Rock but if it's a competition between he and Nemo, I like Nemo's upside.

Re: Rock or Nemo?

I am a big Rock fan but I think he isn't quite what they're looking for. He needs to really blow the staff away on special teams to stick it would seem. Hopefully he can catch on somewhere esle is they do have to let him go. He is an NFL player.

Re: Rock or Nemo?

Was anybody else surprised to see Rock was 11/14 on 3rd and 1's in 2003? That's pretty damn good.

Still, I like what Nemo brings to the table in terms of sheer size. I can see him filling the Gerald Riggs type role for us... punching through the line on short yardage and goal line situations.

Rock certainly won't make this decision easy though. He's solid on special teams and was pretty impressive catching the ball on Sat. night.

I'm hoping we can find a way to keep them both, but if I had to choose one I'd keep Nemo and reluctantly part ways with Rock.

Riggs is a pretty good assesmnent of him he just run's to where he's supposed to, he doesn't hit the hole as hard as Rigg's but that may come with familiarity of the offense, the one thing he does do is run where the hole is supposed to be, he goes north and south, I saw him miss a cut in the hole the other night when there was a wide open left side he went the wrong way, but that's not what he's there for.

As for Rock? He was very impressive out of the backfield last scrimmage, but we have plenty of guy's who can catch out of the backfield, we need short yardage runners, and Rock is just a tad undersized to be moving piles, where as I saw Nemo start pushing players backwards after contact, I think Gibbs will do what he can to keep both, but if push comes to shove it will be Nemo.

Re: Rock or Nemo?

Poor Rock Cartwright, he cuts his weight down from 240 to 215 because "Gibbs doesn't use fullbacks", and then they go out and draft a 255 pound running back for short yardage situations to move the pile.

That right there shows you that the cards are probably stacked against Rock. But there's plenty of time for him to shine on special teams -- that will be the key for him.

I'm not voting yet though, I need to see more games.

You know Beems I didn't realize he lost that kind of weight, when he was running after the catches he made the other night I was looking to see who it was, I couldn't believe it was Rock, he really did look good, I wonder if he can fill a different role, although Portis and Betts can catch perhaps he may be better out of the backfield, maybe a good 3rd down back, he's not exactly a burner like you may expect out of a 3rd down guy, but perhaps he will be the kind of player who just keeps moving the chains on 3rd down? I am sure he will have plenty of chances in the upcoming games to show that.

Re: Rock or Nemo?

While i do like nemo for his size i did see him struggle during pass protection. He was trying to block with only his arms and looked ridiculous.besides how can you not vote to keep a guy on your roster named ROCK.also how about the stat 11of 14 on third and one that is indeed pretty damn good.looks to me like rock is more versitile and that is why i say dont drop the rock!!!

p.s
I know having a cool name is no reason to keep a guy but damn rock cartwright is a bad ass name for a football player.

I like both of them, I hope there's room. Nemo looked really good in that game though...

Re: Rock or Nemo?

Can't we keep both and maybe drop one of the 73 Safeties we have on the current roster?

lol..how 'bout that! but they probably won't, however. nemo brings a little more to the table, and he's yet to fully pick up the system. so his upside, at this point, is probably a little more than rock.
