Scud's Studs (week 7 @ Carolina)
Not too much praise today. I'll keep it short and sweet:
John Beck: after that 1st half break-in period, he played pretty well. I do have an issue with him staring down receivers at times. But neither turnover was really on him. Adam Carriker: the lone bright spot on defense today with 1.5 sacks. Graham Gano: once again proves reliable and hits another long (49yd) one. Tim Hightower: dude was in total beast mode before he went down. Looks like we'll be without him for a while. Fred Davis: our most reliable target in the passing game. That's it really.

No Paulsen? I thought he was kinda a surprise for a guy who never gets his name called. Made a couple of good catches in the middle. Kinda makes me miss Yoder.

I told you Beck and Carriker would be studs today
One of these days you'll put Kyle Shanahan on this list. I know I'm probably his only defender here, but htis offense gets guys open and it can be extremely productive if we cut down on mistakes

And you're right about the mistakes. If we don't have all those drops today, that final score may look a lot closer.

If we can ever get ourselves a decent QB, the complaints about Kyle will stop. Course, that would be true of every coordinator, I suppose. |

This line has shown it likes to roll up defenses when it gets chugging and Helu is very talented. Run the rock to set up the pass here and there. Mike should be calling plays if Kyle can't seem to adjust his scheme.

Promising news from Kelli Johnson on Hightower: Initial tests and x-rays on his knees were negative.
Still have to wait for the MRI though. |

And don't forget Erik Cook -- 1st career start. Held his opponent to zero tackles, zero tackle assists, zero pressures, zero sacks.
Edited: Mooby says he got worked over on the sack on 4th down. Oh well. Last edited by Beemnseven; 10-23-2011 at 06:38 PM. |

Still better than Casey "I'm Jay Raliff's bitch" Rabach. Good job by him.

2nd half Beck. He gets a pass for the first half, he was clearly nervous. And the drops in the second half were on the receivers. But yes, he played better than Grossman today.

Hightower/Gano
Thats really about all who deserve it this week. I would love to add Beck but he just did not do enough to warrant stud status, but I see it coming if he can get some support. |

Yeah, I liked the play calling today. Gotta give Kyle credit when he deserves it. Even if it wasnt effective, it was still the right game plan. We just gotta except the fact that we don't have a lot of playmaker options on offense and that we're gonna end up around 500. Just gotta watch the young players grow and wait for an offensive injection of talent this draft. It's all about next year.
