Hall sounded like he was pissed at JH for putting Phillip on AJ. I really don't think it would have mattered if Hall was on Johnson but atleast he's fired up!

There's nothing wrong with Hall being fired-up [so to speak] It's his delivery that has some people scratching their heads. Haven't we had enough of these controversial issues for one season? Sounds familiar, one player dictating how he should be utilized above all others.

Even if the coaches were to concede to his demands, I wonder what makes him think he could cover AJ one-on-one giving up so much in physical statue.

This is just another team issue that should never have gotten in the media.

I know that I'd probably rather have Hall one-on-one with him than Doughty and initially Buchanon. It's not like he's never covered a taller guy before.

In all fairness to Doughty, he's a back-up player and there's a reason for that. The coverage was there on the touchdown play, AJ just used his superior athletic ability to make the play. exchange Hall for Doughty, AJ still makes that play. That's just MO....I thought Buchanon released AJ to the safety a little too soon, had he stayed underneath a little longer Schaub may have had second thoughts about throwing to AJ.

He dropped a couple of f bombs during that interview. We'll see if he puts his money where his mouth is.

I like the firey attitude...a bit early to start blaming the coach, but I like his yearning to be the leader....though I'm not sold on his coverage skills.

Just when it looked like he'd matured into being more of a team player...
Sounds almost like he's saying that the loss isn't his fault. From what I've read & what I've seen on tv, doesn't look like this defense features much pure man on man coverage. Looked like buchanon made the right play in the zone; stay w/the wr until he gets to the safety.

We will hear about these quotes all week.

Re: D Hall stepping up as a leader?

This is definitely not Hall's defense, there's still Orakpo and Fletcher to consider.. However, there's no questions that Hall's becoming a leader.. There was even an article explaining that Shanahan had a meeting wtih Hall, and asked him to be a leader..

And not to mention, Hall looks like he bulked up a little bit, and improved his playings.. I hope he is having a pro-bowl season this year, it would help our defense lot..

Our front 7 looked good yesterday, pressuring Schuab almost whole game.. And our secondary didn't look good.. But we need to remember that The defense only played two games together with tthe new schemes and all.. We need to give it some time for the guys to understand everything and hopefully, the team will click and play lights out..

Agree, this is without a doubt Fletchers defense and God forbid if he were to go down right now it would be a toss up between Daniels and Orakpo. At this point though I think Landry is a lot closer to taking over as the teams defensive leader. At the very least Landry is the leader in the secondary.

Still corners are getting danerously close in personallity to their wide reciever counterparts. Actually if anything they've surpassed them. Part of that might be because a new breed of receiver has emerged. I rarely hear T.O like quotes from Andre, Calvin, Fitz, Boldin, and Wayne, even our own Santana stays quiet. We also saw Randy Moss not lowering himself to trash talk when Revis called him a slouch. All the while it seems like more and more trash talk is coming from corners these days.

I kind of like that Hall wants to do this, but he probably could have gone about it more tactfully. You don't really need people to know this on Monday, rather let the week develop so by the time the game rolls around on Sunday the announcers know and inform everybody watching. Then again how about we just go do it without any talk. Send them on a Hall-iday without making a big fuss to the media.

Until Haslett is able to plug in anybody and still shutdown opponents, the team belongs to the players.

If a coach has to call a player into a meeting to ask the player to become a leader, the odds of that player becoming an effective leader are slim.

General Eisenhower did not need to call General Patton to his tent to ask General Patton to be a leader...

You hit nails on all points. Landry is emerging player, but I really don't see him as a leader.. A leader is suppose to be a role model for the team.. But again, what do I know, I don't even know Landry and what he is like in the locker.. It would be great if Landry actually becomes one, we need his fierce on the field to spread onto our defense players..

You are correct.. Out of all players, I would not have expected Shanahan talked to Hall about being a leader.. However, sometimes, some players need someone to push them outside their comfortable zone and be the one.. But then, that doesn't mean it will work out great..

I appreciate that Hall wants to be a leader, but don't do it through the media.

I agree that's not a leaders approach. It's not the right thing to say regardless of his good intentions.
