Wow, that’s horrible. For everyone that has young kids like this, well, any kids in general it absolutely breaks your heart to hear this.

Prayers go out to him and his family.

Awful, boys at the age of 2 to 3 are very dangerous to themselves. I always tell folks I am on suicide watch with him, they laugh but it fairly true.

He has gone to his 3rd swimming lesson, each class is 30 minutes, we always do "Humpty Dumptys" where the child falls off the pool side you catch him and then have him kick back to the wall and pull himself out again. IT is great life saving lesson.

Having a 4 and 2 year old I did not read the article, the headline turned my stomach enough. Prayers for the Cunningham family.

Agreed. I hope the whole family finds the strength to go on through this. The loss of a child, especially that young, is a pure tragedy .

I can't think of anything worst happening to me then for my son to die, god bless folks who go through something like this.

I'm in the same position, nearly 4 and nearly 1. I heard about it on Mike and Mike this AM and it unnerved me pretty bad.

A terrible situation. I cannot understand a 2yr. old being left unsupervised in a body of water for any reason.

My prayers will be with the Cunningham family, may his son RIP. Negligence would apear to be of concern here.

Sometimes kids get away from you, last week my daughter snuck upstairs and decided to put on $30 worth of my wife's makeup. Pretty innocuous, but we were like damn, if she can get away from us to do that, what else can happen. It prompted a full day of childproofing. I think the lesson is with little kids, don't own a hot tub or a pool, unless you have a foolproof way of locking them out of it. They're drawn to fun stuff like this.

They tend not to rule negligence on something like this unless there was something appalling going on. The legal system understands that kids get into stuff.

Kids can sneak away (not really trying to sneak away) and things can happen before you know they are gone. Me and my daughter where going out side last week but I had to get something and I thought my wife was putting on her shoes. Next thing I know my wife is running out the door and returns with our daughter. I didn't even know she could open the door and its a good thing my wife heard our daughter calling for me. Thats is the first time that has ever happened but what if she did not call for me and instead wondered out into the street. We now keep the door locked but its just a matter of time for her to figure out how to unlock the dead bolt.

Same here...my boy is two...also have a hot tub. We keep it covered at all times even though he can't get up into it.

I hate hearing tragedies like this.

Re: Randall Cunningham's 2-year-old son drowns in family hot tub

I lost a 3 year old cousin to something very similar. I'll never own a pool for that reason...

Always...Always supervise your children... especially if there is water nearby.

So tragic. Prayers to Cunningham and his family.
