Thoughts on Charlie Weis

Charlie Weis to Washington? | DC Pro Sports Report

Quote:
This is the second report that links the former Patriot offensive coordinator and recently fired Notre Dame head coach with the Redskins.
Chris Russell of radio station 106.7 The Fan in Washington, DC reports that two NFL teams have expressed a high level of interest in Weis, one of which was the Washington Redskins.
A source close to Weis stated that it was unclear as to what capacity the Redskins want to use him. However, it can’t be too far fetched to believe he would take over as the new head coach of the team.

Re: Thoughts on Charlie Weis

I don't know how sincere the interest in Weis. I think a lot of it based on "well Cerrato is a Notre Dame guy, and the Redskins are interested in everybody anyway."

I think Weis is a great offensive coordinator but I don't necessarily want him as my head coach. The Notre Dame job I think humbled him but I'm not sure he's quite ready yet for another head coaching job-which requires a lot more than just calling plays on offense. He's also not a WCO guy. Which is fine I guess, but it just means more changes again.

I'm thinking of taking a rumor holiday vacation. Everyone and their father is going to be rumored to be our next QB, RB, GM, OC, DC, HC, Run DMC, blah blah blah.. I'm going to enjoy the last 3 games and get back to the speculation and rumor mongering in the new year..

I'm not dead but this team is dead to me...but now that McCloughan is here they may have new life!

Jay Gruden = Zorny McSpurrier
Kirk Cousins = Next Grossman

He didnt do good in pseudo-amateur football but from what I remember he didnt do bad coaching pro ball.

Spurrier had a Natl Championship and plenty of bowl wins but couldnt do squat in the pros. The pro & college game are very different and success of lack of success in one or the other doesnt mean anything.

This rumor has the stench of Snyeratto all of over it. I could totally envision them bringing in Charlie and drafting Jimmy. LOL, Snyeratto strikes again.

Re: Thoughts on Charlie Weis

The part that worries me is the rumor is based on a source close to Weis and that source has stated Weis was uncertain as to what capacity. That infers there has been contact. As for Clausen, there is no guarantee he will be around, Cleveland has reported interest. Unless. Unless of course, we give up the house to move up. Ok, forget it, this is scaring me.

The source could be Weis himself ("sources close to" is often just media slang for the actual person, not always mind you). Weis has publicly stated he'll be back with the NFL next year but he doesn't know where or with whom. This could just be him drumming up interest or reminding people that he's still available.

No problem. If Cleveland were to take Clausen, then Snyderatto could simply trade our No. 1 pick to the Browns for Brady Quinn.
