Dre Bly Released
Broncos keep cutting, release veteran CB Bly
Weren't we going after him a couple of years ago? It would be interesting to see if we go a completely different direction with the Secondary this offseason. Personally I don't want him, but I know somebody does. I love stirring the pot. |

Re: Dre Bly Released
No offense, but this whole "starting a new thread everytime someone goes on the market" is getting old. Just add this to the 2009 Free Agents thread.

I wish... he very likely will be the premier CB on the market this offseason (assuming we extend Hall).

Re: Dre Bly Released
Vet minimum is a running joke here....for any new FA that hits the market there's always a "sign him for vet minimum" response or thread.

Re: Dre Bly Released
I wholeheartedly disagree. Threads are getting too big and too generic. Keep topics separated!

Re: Dre Bly Released
So you think the whole thread about Deuce McAllister was worth it?

Re: Dre Bly Released
Sure, why not? If it's a worthless thread, it will drift away into oblivion. Unlike now, when they get merged, super-merged, and ultra-merged away into oblivion.

Re: Dre Bly Released
We only look into Bly if these things happen.
A) We do not Re-sign Hall B) If we release Springs C) If Rogers demands a trade or becomes a locker room problem The last two scenarios are "if", so if either one of these things happen, thats the only time I could see us signing Bly. |

Re: Dre Bly Released
at a very cheap price I think he'd be a good addition to the secondary, especially if we lose Rogers...

Re: Dre Bly Released
I think people can use their best judgement of whether a topic is thread worthy in and of its own. Inevitably, there's going to be a lot of overlap in discussion particularly in the off-season. I look at the Free Agent Thread more about updates and general NFL FA news, but not necessarily news that's really directly relevant to the Redskins.
For example, Deuce being cut is probably not that relevant to the Redskins because we don't need a 30+ RB coming off multiple knee surgeries. (By the same token, I can understand how the Colts cutting Marvin Harrison could be thread worthy because he's been such a major part of the Colts organization that even though it was inevitable it's pretty big news.) Jordan Gross closing in on a 6 year deal is thread worthy because it closes whatever window of opportunity we thought we might have had getting a young OT (a position of need for us) but it also may open up another opportunity with the Panthers likely cutting LB Landon Johnson to make the deal work. I guess I would just say-and Matty and the other mods may disagree-use your best judgement on what's thread worthy or not. Worst case scenario, we'll just lock it and move on.
