Blowing out Detroit

Following 52-7 blowout loss to Patriots, Redskins wondering how it happened

Following 52-7 blowout loss to Patriots, Redskins wondering how it happened - USATODAY.com

Everyone remember that game? It was only last year. I'm sure the same people that are now talking about doing the same thing to Detroit forgot all about that 52-7 asskicking we got and how it felt as a fan. Really stupid comments like maybe Portis can get 300 yards and break the team record in rushing yardage.

Detroit isn't dead, it's a wounded animal. Remember this?

1989 Dallas 13 Redskins 3. Dallas ended the season 1-15.

Dallas Cowboys 0 3 7 3 13
Washington Redskins 0 0 3 0 3

How about, if we are fortunate to control the game, that some of starters can get a rest and some of the new guys can get some experience.

I'm looking for a win. Never was interested all the other crap that's being talked about.

I'm with you on that, but I would like to have at least one week where I'm not sweating it out to the very end!

Maybe because it has no point. Look, I get what he's saying but he didn't need to start a new thread to say it.

Should I lock it? What say the people?

Of course, this is not needed at all!

Yeah, guess I threw some stuff out there without connecting them together. Lock it if you want. However, I think that the Skins could use this game a couple different ways, as long as they have in under control.

1. Rest some players

2. Rate some players

3. Try some different plays/work on exhisting ones.

And really really try not to lose to an 0fer team like we did in 89 to the Cowgirls.

Re: Blowing out Detroit

The problem with the Lions goes much further than the hapless 1-15 '89 Cowboys, who with virtually the same personnel, went on to be very successful under Johnson and Switzer.

The Lions stuck too long with Matt Millen, so their Front Office is just now reorganizing. 27th in Total Offense, dead last in Total Defense. A QB that has 7 career games (2 career starts) under his belt since 2005, and cannot figure out that when he runs out of the back of the endzone, the play is dead. An offense that has good personnel, but no one to get them the ball. A no name defense that can't seem to stop anything. Their one bright spot was dumping salary for draft picks when they traded Roy Williams...

Now while I'm not predicting record shattering, but if the Skins can't put up 30 points on this team, while pinning them down for the count, the Skins will be in trouble going down the stretch. Great football teams beat up on teams like the Lions. If the Skins are a great team, they will have to prove it Sunday...

WE aren't scoring and that should be a concern. Detroit should be an easy win, but so should have been the Browns at home.

A) This thread should be locked. Nothing being discussed here that can't fit in another thread.

B) We aren't scoring nearly enough, so I am concerned.

Did you forget that the Browns stomped the Giants the week befor they played us. I thought we could have scored more on the browns but I was happy with the win but to say we should have blown them out is a stretch after what they had done to the Giants.

Re: Blowing out Detroit

I think it would be more realistic to compare Detroit to roadkill than a wounded animal. I understand your point but it's kinda been driven into the ground. Any team can win on any given Sunday. There's a difference between overlooking a team and being confident. I don't think the players are overlooking Detroit but they should feel confident going into the game. If we do get a big lead I think we should just run it out instead of giving future opponents some film to look at. I was'nt wondering how it happened against the Pats, I was wondering why Williams did'nt blitz more and knock the crap out of Brady.
