Throwback or Throwout?

This article is hillarious...

ESPN Page 2 - Straight Cash, Homey No. 13

We all know someone that is guilty of this......wearing the worst possible team jersey ever. You will never see me wearing a Sage Rosenfel jersey. My only question is what actually draws the line between a throwback jersey (Doug Williams, Dan Marino)......and an embarassing I can't believe you own this jersey (Ryan Leaf, Lawrence Phillips)???

Re: Throwback or Throwout?

basically, just don't buy a jersey until a guy retires...I've learned my lesson after two Brad Johnson's and a Steven Davis

Yeah, the Champ Bailey jersey doesn't really see the light of day anymore...

Re: Throwback or Throwout?

The day you guys signed Springs, I took my boyfriend's Bailey jersey out of the closet and brought it to a sports store that made uniforms. I had them remove Bailey's name and replace it with Springs. He got a good laugh out of it at least.

Re: Throwback or Throwout?

Now that our number one draft pick has assumed number 11, I was wondering if it is possible to change the name on the back of the Ramsey jersey that was given to me for free from the Redskins store after his release. I almost didn't take the jersey, because I knew I would never wear it, but if I could change the name I might actually wear it. If it's going to look cheezy then I won't even bother.

That's a good idea. I'd prefer a Malcolm Kelly jersey, but I'd rock Thomas' if I had to.
I always hear people talk about wanting to get a nameplate changed on a jersey but I don't think I've ever heard from who has actually had it done.
How much would it cost and does it look legit?

The hardest thing to find is a shop with identical fabric. All the places around me couldn't match it up exactly and it really stuck out. The quote was only like 20 bucks from one place for them to do all the work. They suggested I buy a thread puller and remove the nameplate, flip it around, bring it back in and they would screenprint another name on it for only $10. Then they made sure to tell me that they were not responsible if anything happened to the jersey and that scared me off.

Re: Throwback or Throwout?

i have a Frerotte jersey collecting dust in the closet. After that, i decided to wait til either the player is retired or signs a long term deal (Cooley).

Turn them into Len Hauss jerseys (Sonny & Billy's center & in the ring of honor).

Re: Throwback or Throwout?

My buddy is a Pats fan but i can deal with him cause he's from Boston, he told me his dad bought him a Ben "Coats" jersey for christmas a few years ago....on the back it said the first and last name on the jersey all spelled out "Ben Coats."
