Proud of the team for this season

Regardless of what happens on Sunday against the Vikings, I just wanted to take a moment to say that I'm proud of the team for the way they handled things and kept battling all season.

They have fought through a ton of key injuries and of course the Sean Taylor tragedy, and here we are entering week 16 still in the playoff hunt.

I think we have to credit to Joe Gibbs for holding the ship together, the players for fighting through the adversity, and to the backups who have stepped in and contributed.

Well done across the board.

I'll second that. And I'll go a step further, I think Gibbs has definitely earned the right to be back next year. Not that he wasn't going to, but given the circumstances, I still believe he should be back next season.

NO doubt, I wanted Gibbs back regardless of what's happened in the last few weeks, but given what they've been through, Joe has earned a lot of good faith from everybody.

No one wants to go through that type of tragedy, but Sean's death & the injuries that have hit us this year, may have built this team's unity. There is always something positive to come from tragedy, no matter how hard it is to overcome. Gibbs deserves a lot of credit as does everyone else in the organization.

This season might be looked back at as a turning point for the franchise. I think the experiences of this year will stick with Snyder et al forever, and having Gibbs essentially as a role model will to.

And how. I think we a couple key moves and basically some luck on the injury side of the ball, we're going to be a great team next year.

Honestly, I'd forfeit this year's first round pick to God if he promised no injuries the whole season.

Well I'm proud of this team for part of the season. It seems that we had to back ourself into this corner to get fired up and play harder. I know we have had a ton of injuries but we should have atleast been 9/5 now and not 7/7. At 9/5 we would not be cheering for other teams to help us out.

If we win out we don't need to cheer for other teams for help.

If the Saints win out they take our place as the sixth slot or we need the Giants to loose their last 2 games. So yes we do have to cheer for other teams.

We certainly should be more like 9-5, but we're not. In any event, that the team is 7-7 with the loss of Sean Taylor (arguably the bedrock of our defense) and the incredibly awful injury situation is nothing short of amazing. That we should be 9-5, were at some point leading or were in 6 of our 7 losses, and are in the playoff hunt should be a credit to Gibbs, the players, and the rest of the staff. This team isn't "there" yet, but it's damn close.

Re: Proud of the team for this season

I am very proud of the team...especially how Gibbs held it together after Sean Taylor got killed.

I expected modest improvement to a 7-9 record...they are already there...without Randy Thomas, Jon Jansen, Carlos Rodgers, and now Jason Campbell, Rocky McIntosh and sadly Sean Taylor.

There is no doubt in my mind Gibbs is one of the best coaches of all time holding a "team" together...whether he has the talent to go all the way is up to the front office and the players execution of plays.

If nothing else, Gibbs was here this time to be here for the Redskins when they needed him the most.....the Sean Taylor tragedy.
He is simply the best coach I can think of to deal with that.
He has regained my confidence in him as a coach, but even more as a leader.

Allright, I can't hold back anymore. I wanted to write this if/and we have/will make the playoffs in order not to get jinxed. To me this season reminds me of the last season of Gibbs I (92/93 beat Minn. in wildcard game in Minn. and lost to SF in SF after Brian Mitchell fumbled in the niners 20 yard line to lose the game) If you guys recall that season we had some many injuries that Mitchell was our 3rd RB, our OL, DL were decimated and we still managed to win a playoff game and gave the niners a scare. To me that season was Joe Gibbs best coaching job ever, we didn't win a SB but what he did was astonishing until this season arrived. For all those people that called for Joe's job think how much this man has been through and what a job he's done with what he has. I hope we make the playoffs just so people take notice of how special a coach and human being this person is. I would also love to make the playoffs so he can be considered COACH OF THE YEAR because he sure as hell deserves it!!!!!!!

Yeah that '92 team had a lot of heart. They practically willed themselves into the playoffs and should have beat San Fran. It was a veteran team that peaked in '91 and was on a slippery slope down.

Re: Proud of the team for this season

I couldn't think of a better person to be leading this team this year than Gibbs. Think of how many teams would have turned on the staff and each other or just layed down and quit at different points in the season. The team has not even considered doing any of those things. That is strength in leadership ladies and gentlemen. Props to Gibbs, Snyder, the staff, and the "character" players we have on this team.

Coach of the year is a bit much considering some of the game mismanagement, but one thing you can never say about a Joe Gibbs team is that they throw in the towel. The effort that he has gotten out of the team facing mounting adversity this season has made me proud, and I hope Gibbs returns next season. Given what this team has been through, and the character in the locker room, I can see the Skins making serious noise in the NFC next year.

Nobody is perfect. Name me any other coach including Bellichik who could have done this kind of job? No one!! For what this team has accomplished dealing with the murder of their best defensive player during the season and having lost 12 out of 22 players pretty much the whole season and still make the playoffs (if we make it) deserves coach of the year regardless of mistakes made. Some of those mistakes (double timeout) were caused by grieving and not having your head on straight.

Well using Bellichick is a very bad example. He had two years back in 2001 & 2003 where he had over 40 different starters. If I'm correct they had WR's playing corner one year or may be it was a corner playing WR.
