Get Ready For A Change on the Offensive Line!
Get ready for a change on the offensive line. Something I thought about on Portis interview was he stated that the dockery can not be pulling out because he trips over is self and then when he stumbles I am left to dry. For some reason I don't think we will resign Dockery. I believe we will pursue the guard from Cincy or a more mobile o-lineman. I actually believe this is a go move if we want to adapt to Saunders offensive scheme. In KC that o-line was incredible and mobile when it came to pulling out on the tosses and sweeps run plays. Clinton Portis is one of my favorite players but he is complaining about the same running plays he was used to in Denver. Before he got here is was known as a cutback runner. If Portis becomes more patient and watch a lot more tape of faulk, holmes, and johnson he would become the best running back in the league hands down. I really believe Al Saunders knows what he is doing. Jos Gibbs need to let Saunders call all of the plays or just let him go and take over himself. I really believe Gibbs wants the same offense he saw in Kansas City and eventually will let Saunders bring in the personnel to do it.

Re: Get Ready For A Change!
Personally I don't think we'll let Dockery go for reasons I outlined in another thread. #1 being continuity. This line as a whole had a very, very good season. I think they were the only line to be in the top 7 in both sacks allowed and rushing yards. There's no reason to disrupt things up front unless Dockery asks for an insane deal.
#2 the team needs to change course and start taking care of their own. Samuels has already stated he would restructure to help free up cash for Dock, and I think with the way this season went Gibbs and co. will push hard to keep Dockery. |

They will resign Dockery. Letting him slip away for an outsider will IMO, be the straw that will break the camels back.

Re: Get Ready For A Change!
Dockery is a good player and I think we should keep him because, as stated before, we need to have some continuity and take care of our own. However, the one thing that drives me nuts about him is the amount of false start penalties that man gets, he really needs to cut back on those.

Re: Get Ready For A Change!
I have kept an eye on Dockery for some time, his problem is he only blocks an individual if he gets in his way he cannot find someone to block which is what you need to do when you pull, to many times I have watched him run downfield without hitting anyone, I said it before and I will say it again Dockery may look like a heavyweight but he plays like a featherweight.

Re: Get Ready For A Change!
I wouldn't give him significant money, I would also look to draft a replacement regardless, the problem with that right now is we have one legitamate draft pick, do we trade down and recoupe some picks and help other areas, or do we go after a big defensive end, which kind of seems like a waste after the Carter signing last off season, but he is one big waste, not only can't he rush the QB, he gets knocked off the line of scrimmage and man handled by TE's, just a real bad signing, couple that with the AA signing and I think we have no choice but to deal down, draft an OL and some defensive help, MLB and secondary. I would love to add D-line help but that will probably only happen if we use our pick at the 6 spot. Tough situation, and that's what happens when you have no clue on talent evaluation, which makes me very scepticle that we will actually get a real player regardless of how we go about the draft. We are starting to see why draft picks if used properly are so important to building a team, something Gibbs has no clue, or regard for!

Re: Get Ready For A Change!
If they don't resign Dockery, the entire team will revolt. The offensive line is one of the last units on the team that isn't backstabbing right now. That unit contains three of our best leaders: Samuels, Jansen, and Randy Thomas. They all want Dock back, and so does Bugel, and so does Gibbs. They're not going to let this one get away.

Re: Get Ready For A Change!
I think signing Dockery is the smartest thing. Our O-line proved that they could gel together and protect Campbell while allowing Betts to amass some pretty insane numbers.
If it aint broke, don't fix it.

Re: Get Ready For A Change!
They need to resign Dockery for all the reasons already given (continuity being #1). I think they need to add some quality depth in case of the worst-case scenario, but keeping our starting front 5 is a must.
And besides, Betts certainly didn't seem to have any problem running behing these guys.
