Re: Portis Out
Duckett was definitely good insurance for us. Gibbs bases a strong offense on a strong running game, and even though I feel we're okay with Betts, having Duckett in there as well should hopefully get us through the season opener at least.

Re: Portis Out
It's certainly "possible", but all reports (most importantly, CPs own statements), make this a bit of wishful thinking.

"The way things look, bro, you'll probably be seeing 2-6 against Dallas," Portis said. "But who knows? If not, I should be ready for Houston. They want me to be 100 percent." Based on this is why I said he Might not be ready |

The following is a prayer being uttered by many in the Dallas area this week: Dear Jesus, as the Cowboys season is on us, I am asking for you to show some mercy. Okay, I know that our team is owned by the Prince of Darkness himself, but don't you think that handing us that locker room cancer, T.O. is punishment enough? And for crying out loud, that thing you did to us with Vanderjagt -- a bit over the top don't you think? It's not like we're a bunch of Sodimites (that thing with Aikmen -- that was a long time ago and he was just confused and experimenting). We are in great fear and trembling of what the Redskins are going to do to us this year.

Re: Portis Out
Nothing new here. We've known this for three days now. He'll be back against Dallas.

Re: Portis Out
If it was up to me. I would bring Portis back till Week 5. You don't want to rush him back and have it linger all year. Furthermore, you want to be playing your best in November and December, not September.

Re: Portis Out
And yeah I agree with Skins maybe not with the 5 weeks but with the 100% you don't want him to come to early and risk have a more serious or just linger the injury for a more extended period

Hmmm let's see Riggo the last four meetings against Portis since he join your team 2004 1st 23 att 94 yards 0td 2004 2nd 10 att 32 yards 0td 2005 1st 17 att 52 yards 0td 2005 2nd 23 att 112 yards 0td Total 73 att 289 yards 72.25 yards avrg 0td Yeah Riggo we're really SCARED to face Portis come on man get real I think we have done a great job in the past containing him. Portis is a GREAT player that I love to watch and it's clear that you're better with him in the field than without, but speak with facts you're the 1 engaging wishful thinking The fact is I want your team 100% present next week because if he doesn't play I know 2 thinks will happen IF Dallas wins you'll all say that we beat you because Portis didn't play but IF your team wins you'll all laugh and say that you don't even need Portis to beat us. I love to see a great game especially against our biggest rival and in a year with so much expectation on both teams with so much in question but what I don't like is excuses in either side. |

Their Defense is the base of their succes, they have been able to contain even the best offenses, it looks like Strout won't play and that will hurt their front 4, Peterson another big kwy i ntaht defense is hurth but it seems he will play. They have great CB's in mathis and Williams wich will make it more difficult because I don't see will get enough time to ge the seperation needed for Glenn and TO. I'm Really not that preocupied about their offense, leftwich didn't look well in the preaseason out of sink and their WR are average at best. Losing G.Jones really hurth them. I see a low scoring game and the victory will be based in if our oline can give enough time for bledsoe to find the wr and move the chains, I don't see a lot of running yards, but it will be a tough 1. |
