Re: Skins add OL Wade
Scouts Inc. Profile:
Full Name: Todd McLaurin Wade Born: October 30, 1976 Greenwood, MS Height: 6-8 Weight: 317 lbs. Age: 29 Pos: OT Experience: 7 years College: Mississippi Drafted: Year:2000 Round:2 Pick:22, Dolphins Shows some ability to move lateral and position block. Has some ability to cut-off on the second level. Will battle in-line. Plays with solid balance. Can wall off in-line. Shows some ability to pull to the short side and make some contact. Will lunge and go down off the snap. Gets his legs locked on base blocks and will have his body too far forward - he is a waist-bender. Needs more consistency with hand placement. Will fire off the ball and miss in short yardage situations. He looks stiff on his pass set slide. Gets his shoulders turned, will give up angles to the quarterback. Has a hard time vs. bull rushers, gives too much ground - has late hands and gets out-leveraged. Falls off chip blocks. He has a big wind-up on his punch. |

todd wade is literally the BEST OL available at this point, and he's a tackle, which is a position we REALLY need a backup for (walter is a decent C/G, molinaro, on the other hand, is BAD). The texans dropped him cause he'd count something insane like 4-5mill against the cap for them this year. great signing, and a huge upgrade over the guy he replaced (3rd string OG). Posey and rumph were also good depth signings. I was a bit surprised at how well those two played. |

Re: Skins add OL Wade
I don't know how I feel about having a former Texans O-lineman on the team, even if he is just a back-up.

Re: Skins add OL Wade
How good can he be if Texas cut him? Seriously, they had one of the worst offensive lines in the league.

Re: Skins add OL Wade
Injury is the issue, IMO. If he's healthy, he's a good backup. As for the Texans, it's hard to say how good or bad these guys are. The TEAM sucked, so everyone looked weak.

Re: Skins add OL Wade
He sounds like a solid backup to me. He's got starting experience and what it comes down to is he's better than anything we already had, I know, that's not saying much.
I've got a buddy who's a Dolphins fan and he said phins fans hate the guy. He was a promising young OL who signed took the money and ran with Houston, but has never lived up to the hype. Maybe after being cut he'll be hungry to revive his career. |

Re: Skins add OL Wade
Seems like a good pickup. Those Texans OL come very, VERY respectable.

Re: Skins add OL Wade
one of the reasons the texans cut him was because he was costing them too much money, not because he was the worst lineman on the team

Re: Skins add OL Wade
From SI 2000 draft:
A tall, muscular right tackle with very long arms and big hands. Hard worker with a fiery demeanor. Plays a little high and isn't explosive in his initial thrust, but he's a solid run blocker who keeps his legs driving. Has a good feeling for angles and hustles downfield. Sets up well in pass protection. Does a good job of controlling defenders once he gets his hands on them. Has fairly good feet, but bends at the waist a lot trying to adjust. Has some problems reacting to a good inside move. Somewhat stiff. Needs technique improvement, but has solid tools. |
