Best 80's ACTION movie
Ok, so here's yet another thread to help with the bordem of the off season. The title says it all, what movie gets your vote for best action movie of the 80's? There are many things you need to consider when picking a great action flick: people getting killed in new and unusual ways; cheesy dialogue; random boobies; cliche names; unintenitional comedy (a la Bill Simmons, who's really been slipping lately); and unbelievable endings. I'm sure there are plenty of other qualities that make an action movie great, it's just great to see how they are mixed and matched.
So, here are a few of my favorites for your consideration: The Terminator; Bloodsport; Big Trouble in Little China; Commando; Raiders of the Lost Ark; Preditor; The Running Man; basically just any Arnold flick; and so on... My vote goes to Die Hard. It has everything you could want. A huge body count, bad German accents, an over the top plot, random boobies, the principal from The Breakfest Club (RIP buddy), and Carl from Family Matters. Fantastic. Plus, the dialogue and quotes are through the roof! "Welcome to the party!" And, Bruce Willis would have died in real life so many frickin' times that it's crazy, but NO, because he DIES HARD, see even the title is tied in somehow, and that's important in an action movie. Well, I obviously have too much time on my hands. What time does the basketball game start? and mods, I may need a vote once we get some more movies

Re: Best 80's ACTION movie
All the die hard movies kick ass, but i'm gonna have to go with Rambo First Blood Part II. Its always nice to watch an American hero kick the shit out of some foreign country all by himself!

What about one of the Substitute movies? I know there's four of them, but i think one of the earlier ones was in the 80's. I was watching on today on some channel, USA i think.

I can't believe I forgot about Aliens (as in the second one). This is why I need this thread, it remember why I developed a horrible sleeping disorder in college.

Re: Best 80's ACTION movie
Excalibur, Die Hard, The Road Warrior, Superman 2, Beverly Hills Cop 1, Kickboxer, all 3 of the Indiana Jones flicks, Black Rain, Escape from New York, Batman, Aliens, and Predator are all favorites of mine, but I think I'd have to give the nod personally to Highlander or Return of the Jedi/Empire Strikes Back.
I may get some hell 4 this cuz though mainly meant for kids, which quite a few of us here were when it came out, I know one of my personal favorites before I could watch the R-rated stuff had to be Neverending story. that movie was freakin awesome.

Re: Best 80's ACTION movie
As soon as I saw the title "any Arnold movie" popped into my mind. I must say though, the Conan series were very instrumental in my childhood development. Can't forget Commando either. Man, that was one big cool gun he was wielding...and with one arm too.
p.s. In all honesty action wasn't action until Arnold showed up in Hollywood. He took it to another level.

Re: Best 80's ACTION movie
How about Roadhouse - if only for the line "Pain don't hurt." Tha either zen, or stupid. I can't tell this early.
Or how about "The Principal", because Jim Belushi = Tough Guy.
