Redskins vs. Cowboys Thanksgiving 2006...Not Happening (rumor just a rumor)
This may not necessarily be deserving of its own thread, but I couldn't help but notice this:
"The NFL will place eight prime-time Thursday and Saturday games on its NFL Network starting in 2006, a senior league executive said. The schedule is made up of games that would have been on Saturdays late in the season on CBS or Fox, or on those networks' regional schedules, said the executive, who was granted anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly about the deal. The first game will be on Thanksgiving night, between the Dallas Cowboys and the Washington Redskins." http://www.statesman.com/sports/cont...8nflnotes.html

Re: Redskins vs. Cowboys Thanksgiving 2006
The Redskins/Cowboys on Thanksgiving would normally be seen by 100 million people or more in the U.S. NFL Network has 35 million subscribers plus the two local simulcasts. Does this mean that those living outside of Dallas and Washington who do not have NFL Network will have to watch 'Yes Dear' reruns on Turkey Day? I can't believe Fox wouldn't throw a fit. That Dallas game is the sweetest plum. Something feels strange here.
Update: Now that I look at it, that 100 million number looks high. But still, that Thanksgiving Dallas game is one of the real perks of the broadcast deal. It has to be one of their highest rated games, if not the highest.

Re: Redskins vs. Cowboys Thanksgiving 2006
I cant believe the skins cowboys game will be on cable and not network tv,and timewarner cable doesnt even have nfl network,I have direct tv so it doesnt affect me,but i dont like it
On another note,I hate it when we play the boys on thanksgiving,it's practically a gauranteed loss and everybody sees it{usually},even the casual fan that doesnt give A shit will want to give you shit. I think we've won one game against dallas on thanksgiving and I saw the Clint longley game and that still pisses me off to this day! Nov. 28, 1968 DALLAS COWBOYS 29, Washington Redskins 20 Nov. 28, 1974 DALLAS COWBOYS 24, Washington Redskins 23 Nov. 23, 1978 DALLAS COWBOYS 37, Washington Redskins 10 Nov. 22, 1990 DALLAS COWBOYS 27, Washington Redskins 17 Nov. 28, 1996 DALLAS COWBOYS 21, Washington Redskins 10 Nov. 28, 2002 DALLAS COWBOYS 27, Washington Redskins 20 Well,I looked up the history, looks like weve never beaten the cowboys on thanksgiving, thanks a lot nfl schedule makers,I guess they thought they needed to do dallas a favor after we beat them twice this yr |

Re: Redskins vs. Cowboys Thanksgiving 2006
The Thanksgiving game is always a benefit to the home team, though it's no guarantee.
The home team (who has experience preaparing for a short week) doesn't have to travel, and can use the extra day to instill a game plan. The visitor plays on Sunday, rests on Monday, and travels on Wednesday. That's one day of practical study and practice. Fortunately, we have a coach for every starter (and two for the backups), so everyone should know their roles by kickoff.

Re: Redskins vs. Cowboys Thanksgiving 2006
It sure would be nice to have our bye week right the week prior to Thanksgiving so we aren't coming off of a short week. I don't know why the NFL doesn't do that anyways.. Also, does that mean that CBS or FOX won't have a Thanksgiving game or are they planning to expand the schedule to 3 games?
