Smithsonian Museum - yet another thread on team name
The Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian @SmithsonianNMAI is hosting a symposium today, Feb 7 10:15-5:45, to change the Redskins mascot. Link to watch on @Ustream Smithsonian American Indian Museum on USTREAM: The National Museum of the American Indian is the first national museum dedicated to the preservation, stud...
Pretty sure this is going to be a one sided discussion. Mike Wise will be among the speakers. If anyone plans on attending give him a big hug for me.

Yay, another name-change debate. We haven't had enough of those over the years.

re: Smithsonian Museum - yet another thread on team name
There's an editorial in today's Wash Post about the logo and I saw that Channel 4 is doing a poll to see if people think the name should be changed. I really think this could be the beginning of the end for the Redskins name and logo.

I said editorial and I mis-spoke. Its a column by Robert McCarthy. He says he's a season ticket holder.

Looks like another hand full of people trying to make this happen. I bet they have a problem with the live feed because so few people show up. I heard they ordered one porta poty for the event.

Mike Wise is a f*cking douchebag, wanna-be-on tv jouranlist. Tony Kornheiser wanna be bitch. Washington DC sports journalism/radio media has got to be some of the worst in the country hands down. Thank god for John Keim keeping it real.

I listened for a few minutes and after hearing the applause my guess is they have more people on the panel then in the audience.

I'd rather talk about the merits of the NFL super bowl halftime show. Ughhhh....

re: Smithsonian Museum - yet another thread on team name
I feel like one of these threads pops up every month when some new article comes out by some bored sports-writer who is too lazy to think of something else to write about.
There are segments of the population who probably have some kind of forum or prostest or whatever regarding the team name every week. Nothing new to see or discuss and im glad to see no one is bothering to debate the issue here. It does not merit discussion, only dismissal.

BHA, you don't find the name offensive or one that merits a debate even?

re: Smithsonian Museum - yet another thread on team name
Am I the only one that went to listen for a few minutes. Every time they mentioned the Redskins I typed in HTTR in the coversation area. After I listened for about 5 min I realized some people think way to hard on these issues.

Goodell was asked about it at the SB and he basically shrugged it off as no big deal. Doesn't seem to be an issue on his radar. |
