Packers meet with Lavar
Giants | Team does not have an offer to Arrington on the table Mon, 10 Apr 2006 18:03:59 -0700 ESPN.com's John Clayton reports the New York Giants do not have an offer to free agent LB LaVar Arrington (Redskins) on the table. The Giants never came close to his asking price, at least seven years, $54 million. The Miami Dolphins have the best offer for Arrington, but it's not close to $54 million and that's why the visit with the Green Bay Packers could be interesting. Packers | Team visits with Arrington Mon, 10 Apr 2006 18:03:36 -0700 ESPN.com's John Clayton reports the Green Bay Packers visited with free agent LB LaVar Arrington (Redskins) Monday, April 10. Signing Arrington or free agent CB Charles Woodson (Raiders) may be what QB Brett Favre is looking for before he commits to playing the 2006 season. Arrington left without an offer while the Packers decide what to do. Arrington was excited enough about the visit that he wanted to talk to Favre. |

Re: Packers meet with Lavar
wow i almost feel sorry for him now. He seemed so loyal here, talked about wanting to get the team to the playoffs and the skins finally make it and he might end up in green bay??? He should go to Miami, get some money, win some games

Re: Packers meet with Lavar
GB certainly has the money to spend, whether they want to spend a large chunk on a LB is yet to be seen.

Re: Packers meet with Lavar
Asking price 7 years 54 million! Yeah ok. They should go ahead and ask for all 54 million as a signing bonus.

For players, the flip side of free agency is that you find out what you are really worth. The marketplace can be cruel.

Re: Packers meet with Lavar
The Postons are comical and Lavar is letting them ruin what is left of his career.

I don't think the book on Arrington is completely written yet. He' still pretty young. We needed to get rid of the guy, but he's got the talent and character to still do some good things in this league.

He has his pick from quite a few teams, and he's had some quality teams show interest in him, Cincy, NY, Miami, etc. He's looking for a big payday, that's what's keeping him unemployed. No real need to feel sorry for him, it's not like he couldn't sign tomorrow if he just lowered his asking price to a more reasonable figure. |

True'da. Hard to feel sorry for a player with 56 plasma TVs around his house. I don't know how anyone can say it isn't about the money with LaVar. I mean, come on, the Packers? Cold ass country? No thanks.

Re: Packers meet with Lavar
How interesting would that be if they got him and still took AJ Hawk?

Re: Packers meet with Lavar
So since we are talking about Lavar and I did not want to look at another thread I will write here. I know that his asking price is in the range of 54 million 6 years. I really dont see him getting near that. He will be lucky to get half that. I would say when it is all said and done he either A. signs a one year contract at about 2 million or B. signs a deal worth about 20 something million. Man I bet he is kick himself for leaving this team now. It would be nice to see him play with the Packers though.
