Zorn to stop calling plays
Zorn to stop calling plays
After yet another poor offensive performance on Sunday afternoon in a 14-6 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs at FedEx Field, the Washington Redskins did make a coaching change - but not the one many were expecting. The Redskins announced late Sunday night that Vinny Cerrato, the executive vice president of football operations, had met with Coach Jim Zorn after the game and told him he thought Zorn had too much on his plate. According to Zack Bolno, the Redskins' director of communications, Cerrato told Zorn he wants him to succeed and that he believes someone else should call the plays. Zorn did not disagree and the two will meet Monday to decide who will call the plays. According to Bolno, wwner Daniel Snyder was not in the meeting but is aware of the decision.

I'm still waiting to see the "ARE to relinquish punts returning" headline.

Re: Zorn to stop calling plays
That's great!! So now our Offense will handled by a guy that has been out of the league for 5 years and should be retired playing bingo. We get more dysfunctional on a weekly basis. Fire Vinny and sell the team!!

Zorn has one foot on the curb and the other on a banana peel.

LOL. That's the least of my worries. Isn't he like 67 years old? I don't even thinks he knows all the terminology.

Re: Zorn to stop calling plays
Zorn services are on the brink of being outsourced.

Re: Zorn to stop calling plays
I doubt they give play calling duties to Sherman Lewis after he's been with the team for a week. I think they'll either give them to Smith or someone else on the offensive side of the ball and Lewis would help them out but wouldn't be the direct play caller. If they do give it to Lewis though I won't be getting my hopes up, mainly cuz he's been out of football for five years and still doesn't know probably half the terminology.

Re: Zorn to stop calling plays
Its ok, he has probably forgotten more about the WCO than Zorn knows altogether. Either way it couldnt be any worse. couldnt score in the double digits vs the worst defense in the league.

Re: Zorn to stop calling plays
IMO, I hope Bugel takes over playcalling. He knows more about how to hide the deficiencies of the OL.
He began as the Redskins offensive coordinator in 1981 and was promoted to assistant head coach in 1983. Under Bugel’s direction the Redskins scored a then-NFL record 541 points (1983), had four 1,000-yard rushers, one 4,000-yard passer and nine 1,000-yard receivers. Washington won two Super Bowls while Bugel was with the team, following the 1982 and 1987 seasons. Overall, he has participated in three Super Bowls, six conference championships and 24 playoff contests.
