Hypothetical Favre Speculative

Last season I was raked over the coals here suggesting that Favre would play in 2008. I'm gonna guess that he's a shoe in in Minnesota if he wants to play there in 2009. Tarvarius looked absolutely terrible yesterday. There is little chance he'll be back...

I'm going on a limb that Favre plays in Minnesota for his last season.

Isn't he still under contract with the Jets? I could be wrong but I thought he was.

Are you saying they'll trade him or cut him?

Re: Hypothetical Favre Speculative

But wouldn't New York have to release him since he's still under contract? That seems extremely unlikely given that they had to give up picks to get him. Moreover, trading him is out since the terms of the original trade with Green Bay explicitly forbid a second trade to Minnesota.

I think that's where it makes the most sense for him to go and is where he wanted to go all along, but I just don't see how it's possible.

He's either back in NY or he's done... finally.

I knew a Farve thread was coming. Farve is done. His body is done. His arm is done.

Well, all I'll say is that the Jets will look forever stupid for firing their head coach for Favre's ego if Favre retires again.

Re: Hypothetical Favre Speculative

Farve would be a better QB than Tavaris Jackson if he had both arms cut off.

T. Jackson is the worst starting QB I have ever seen play.

I'm sure the Vikes would love to have Campbell right now!!! lol

Re: Hypothetical Favre Speculative

Tavaris is pretty bad, the Vikes need to make a move in the offseason to get a quality QB in there.

The Jets are the #2 football team in NYC and they need something to create a buzz. Thats where Favre comes in. I think he will do his usual and jerk the Jets around until zero hour and then decide to come back.

They also needed something (or someone I guess) to help sell all the ridiculously expensive personal seat licenses in their new stadium. They have never been a big player in the FA market, and coincedentally one season before they move to a new stadium they suddenly spend $140M on win-now type players (and traded an handful of draft picks in the process)??

Good point. I forgot about the new stadium. Selling PSLs in this economy could be tough. Heck, selling playoff tickets hasnt been a piece of cake.

Re: Hypothetical Favre Speculative

If Farve showed up with the Vikings next year that would be shady
He better retire or play with the Jets or risk further tarnishing his 'legacy'
-That would be a scumbag move to play his way out of NY and into Minny

maroonandblack30:

Tarvaris Jackson is not a good QB at the NFL level; no argument there. He may never become a good QB at the NFL level; time will tell. But if he is the worst you have ever seen play, then one of two things is true:
1. You haven't watched NFL football games for very long, or

2. You need to hold your breath because there are some bad QBs out there that you are about to see.

Tarvaris Jackson is better than Bruce Gradkowski and Ken Dorsey.

Tarvaris Jackson is better than Kellen Clements.

Tarvaris Jackson is better than Cleo Lemon.

Tarvaris Jackson is better than Dan Orlovsky, Drew Stanton and the other Lions' QB whose name escapes me at the moment.

Tarvaris Jackson is better than Jordan Palmer.

Tarvaris Jackson is about the same as Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Tarvaris Jackson is better than Patrick Ramsey.

Tarvaris Jackson is better than Mark Brunell.

Those are just a few of the people currently employed in the NFL as QBs who are not as good as Tarvaris Jackson and who play worse than he does.

If you want to go back into history to find some truly bad QBs, start by looking through the ranks of those who have played QB for the Chicago Bears since Sid Luckman retired in the 50s.

The Vikings should be looking to upgrade the QB position in the off-season but keep in mind that they can do worse than what they have...

Re: Hypothetical Favre Speculative

Outside of Detroit, is there a worse starting QB than Tavaris? If he is Minnesota's starter next year, Minnesota will NOT be returning to the playoffs.

What team would swap their current starter for Jackson?
