Why are people making it seem like Jason Campbell is a rushing quarterback?

I keep hearing that Campbell is going to add a new scrambling element to our offense so I decided to look up his stats. I was sort of suprised that people keep making it seem like he's going to be like Mark Brunell used to be back in the 70's.
He only averaged like 2.5 yards a carry on 131 attempts over 2 seasons in college. That seems like a lot of attempts, but I really wouldn't say he's going to take off for 15 yards anytime the pocket breaks down.
Maybe I'm off here, but I'm jsut worried that people are going to be expecting too much of Campbell in the coming weeks (God, I hope I'm wrong).

Yeah, I think a lot of people are mistaking is pocket mobility for scrambling ability. brady has great pocket mobility, but he would never dare scramble. Campbell won't scramble much, but he definitely has the ability to duck potential sackers, and step up quickly in the pocket, which brunell couldnt do. I think people are also connecting the fact that he is black with scrambling ability. But don't worry, he's much more agile than byron leftwich.

I'm not sure where it started. He is VERY athletic and can run well...but he's not a scrambler like Cunningham, Vick or even Brunell. However, pro defenses may chase him more than the SEC defenses, so he may become a "running QB" out of necessity, which I think he can do. He is more of a pocket passer though, going into Sunday anyways.

Brady is a good example. I hope he has the pocket sense like that. But I just get the feeling that people think he's going to run for 30+ yards every game and I think that might be unrealistic.

I agree with The Zimmermans. In the highlights I've seen of him, he looks like somebody that, if he didn't see anyone open, could run for the first. He won't be juking anyone out, but he has the presense to step aside and outrun people for the first. 4.5 will outrun a LOT of DEs and DTs.

If he could just buy some time for these receivers, there are no secondaries in the league that can keep up with these 3. Probably the fastest receiving core in the league, and they need a good arm to match their speed, hopefully campbell is that. I'd rather have the ball in the hands of moss than campbell scrambling.

yeah his 40 was 4.5 and he's a big guy, so he has the ability to run. He's not gonna be a Vick, or even as quick as seneca wallace, but he'll add the pocked presence and be able to burn DE's for a first when he needs to.

He was a pocket passer at auburn and will be here, but he can run & throws well on the run. I see him running for at least 1 1st down on sunday.

Yeah, exactly what everyone said. He's not a "running" quarterback. He certainly thinks throw first, but he has the moves and scrambles to at least keep a defense honest, especially on 3rd and medium which is nice!

The reason I predicted him to have so many rushing yards his first game is because of jitters, getting looks hes not used to, etc. He's gonna tuck and run.

Hopefully, the "O" line will block and he won't have to run for his life.

But he looked pretty good throwing the ball on the run.

I just want a QB who can run forward when needed. Unfortunately, Brunell only went in 2 directions - backwards and sideways.
