Endzone Celebrations
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/9341722
I cought a little of the press interview before I went to bed today with Jeff Fisher and the Atlanta GM. I agree that some endzone celebrations are a little over the top and the game could do with out them. In a way I like the idea. What I do not like is where they say, "Nor can they do any celebrating on the ground or be part of any group effort." Now I do not care about the celebrating on the ground, but the group effort part I do not like. I understand that it should not be extravagant group effort, like say comming up with a dance routine or to the effect of that. But whats wrong with lets say a team type high-five? Kinda like the fun bunch used to do? I am not sure how many of you guys played football when you were in high school or pee wee leagues, but one thing that my coach was big on was no matter who scored the TD on your team be happy for them and congratulate them, be excited about the score, show emotion...

Re: Endzone Celebrations
Steve Smith's celebrations were pretty... bad. Either way, I hate this rule. I wanna see Icchy Shuffles, I want to see the fun bunch. These are reasons, as a child, before I really understood the game, that I enjoyed football!
I like to see players show emotion. Show they care about the game and aren't just there to get paid and go home.

Does anyone else remember when Smoot got a 15yrd'er for mimicking M. Washington's sack dance after Washington got one in Detriot? I'm afraid this new emphasis will draw more flags for simple emothional reactions by players. Also, does this mean we won't see anymore of Clinton's Cartwheels?

Re: Endzone Celebrations
I'm on the fence, I'm all for some celebrations but lately they've been getting a little out of hand. While I love Chad Johnson's weekly routines, I can see how some people may be getting a bit annoyed by this.

Re: Endzone Celebrations
I agree, Matty. Most of the celebrations are stupid, but there are a lot that are done that are fun to watch. Namely Chad Johnson, some of TO's, and when steve smith did the jump I laughed.
It's not like it really slows the game down. The field goal kicker is on his way out. I'm curious exactly what the reasons are for this change. Why do they find it necessary?

Re: Endzone Celebrations
Hey, who else was hoping that Chad Johnson would bring that deer he hit the previous week (which was still alive and healthy, or so he said!) to the game!

Re: Endzone Celebrations
There is already a rule about group celebrations in the endzone like the high five the fun bunch would do. Matter of fact the rule was put in place because of the high five. We scored a TD on Dallas and when the fun bunch went to do the high five Dallas players tried to break it up. It happend several time and fights almost brook out in the end zone. Thus the new rule came into effect. I don't mind the celebrations as long as they don't hold up the game. Some are good some are bad and some should just set the ball on the ground and walk away.

Re: Endzone Celebrations
stupid ones,, good ones it dont matter they are touchdown celebrations,, i dont see whats the point in trying to stop it,,they are taking the fun out of it, next season you wont be able to scratch your ass in the endzone without getting a penalty,, it's ridiculos, let the players have fun.. i really hope this rule dont pass
