M. Washington at defensive end in passing situations

Paul Woody in the latest Team Report in Sporting News says that Marcus Washington will line up at defensive end in passing situations. Maybe this is old news, but it caught my eye.

That sounds like a great idea, taking advantage of our depth at linebacker, with Marshall or Posey able to take Washington's spot, and giving Philip Daniels more rest to keep him fresh on other downs.




Assistant head coach/defense Gregg Williams has been talking up the improved play of WLB Rocky McIntosh during the offseason. Now, McIntosh has to show he's ready to start and excel in his second season in the league. McIntosh's performance is pivotal because the team wants to take Marcus Washington out of coverage in passing situations and line him up as a defensive end to rush the passer. McIntosh has to show he can handle coverage in these situations. ...
