The end of live concerts?

2Pac resurrected by Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg on stage at Coachella [Video] | SoulCulture

Watch the video. They made a hologram of tupac. Kinda fascinating. Regardless of your view of the music, interested to see if just for the hologram.

Think how much the labels could save by having one performance and setting up holograms. Yuck!

That's one more step towards the holodeck becoming a reality!

One of the most unforgettable things Ive ever seen but something was just creepy about it.
I loved Tupac but something was just off. It was almost too realistic.

Re: No point in live concerts anymore...

For those interested, this is how they pulled it off:
Tupac 'hologram' merely pretty cool optical illusion

Re: No point in live concerts anymore...

That's amazing. I'm no fan of either of those two on stage but that's impressive!

However, I think a better thread title would be "No point in live rappers anymore..."

Re: No point in live concerts anymore...

We should do this with Sammy Baugh, Sean Taylor and the rest of our lost from the 80 Greatest Redskins list so we can have all 80 in attendance.

Pretty awesome, the Gorillaz have used something similar for a while, this was the first time I remember the tech being used for someone who was "deceased"(enter conspiracy theory here). I thought it was amazing and would have completely lost my shit if they'd gone all out and had a 2Pac/Biggie duet. I'd pay money to see Michael Jackson's "This is It" tour finally realized using this tech.

it's basically just projection onto a mirror, but you'd have to pay a lot of wages for the CGI guys to do their thing and make the video.

Re: No point in live concerts anymore...

Not a fan of rap music, but that's pretty cool stuff there! Imagine being able to see your favorite artists, dead or alive, um...."live" in concert again.

I'd go to a Buddy Holly concert.
