Peter King apology

I think sometimes in this business, we get bad information, and we get it from people we think are reliable, but that is no excuse if we run with it. Such was the case last week. I can find no corroborating evidence that first-round pick Sean Taylor wants out of Washington. I apologize to the Redskins faithful who got very nervous over the note I ran last week, and to Taylor.

here's the link: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200...mqb/index.html

So he had no evidence, yet he writes it anyways? I thought reporters were supposed to check their facts?

Eh, who am I kidding, 'reporters' no linger exist, just 'talking heads' :cheeky-sm

He took the info from one person and didn't/couldn't find confirmation for the story. He's not the first person to do so and he won't be the last.

I particularly hate the way he buried his retraction/ apology near the bottom of a long article. It took me several minutes to find it and I knew it was there.
I also would not call Peter King, John Clayton or Chris Mortensen reporters. Half the time they are reporting rumor as fact. More than half the time their rumor is wrong.
They are "dimwit" gossip columnists who probably live in the sticks.

What a fool. I particularly like his "theory" of how he can pick super bowl winners by the number of losses the year before.
I don't think that his joker puts any analysis whatsoever into anything he writes.

And to think we got in a huge flame-war over this knuckle-head! Well, someone (and you know who you are!) owes the board an apology. If King himself is willing to retract, so should you.

I'm more insulted by his claim that we got nervous. I didn't, I had a feeling he was wrong.

Arrow Cloning MMQB --- The 4 Things I Think I Think

Cloning MMQB --- The 4 Things I Think I Think

1.) One thing is definitely true that Peter-Liar-King has written numerous negatively slanted articles about Redskins over the years.

Why is that? --- Answer: Peter-Liar-King of New Jersey has deep seated envy toward Redskins and he is a diehard Giants fan. --- Peter-Liar-King was/is deeply disappointed that the bumbling Giants GM Accorsi didn't take Sean Taylor and sold the farm to get Eli Manning.

2.) Peter-Liar-King must evil-mindedly think that if you can not have Sean then let's destroy Sean.

3.) SI magazine sales in Redskins nation is suddenly dropping big time, and the SI editors forced peter-Liar-king to apologize for the malicious rumor on Sean Taylor.

4.) Come next year, peter-Liar-king will always vote against Art Monk in the HoF as he has done relentlessly all these years.

Matty, didn't you learn anything from last week's war? PETER KING IS NEVER WRONG. Even when he's wrong he's really right, because eventually he will correct himself, thereby making himself right. Right?

I was just kidding around. It means I agree with you. Kind of like saying "exactly."

here I am guys.

I am not even going to represent my feelings on his apology and retraction. Somewhere lost in the translation was the fact that I trusted Peter King more so then most of you. If that makes you smarter then me, so be it.

I said in the thread that proceeded this on I was wrong from taking shots at Brud and showed a lack of restraint in doing so. Brud Lee, I am sincerely sorry for being an asshole to you.

As for the rest of you "pile on'ers", I owe you nothing in my book. Most of you think I am a jerk anywho and the members who did not have an opinion of me will not care what I write here.

MattyK, Smoot.... you guys are what you are and I have grown tired reading both of you and your self righteous ways of moderation. Good luck with your board and I wish you two well. Thanks for keeping the news section up to date. I will continue to read on!

Hail to the Redskins!

Jon

Correct me if I'm wrong drkstar, but you are the one that got the ball rolling with this post:

Quote:
It is amazing to me that some of you nimwits think you know more about the pulse of the NFL then Peter King.

The man makes a living writing these columns and is profiled on HBO's Inside the NFL. And you Joe Potatohead from some beach town in Delaware know more about NFL football and/or Sean Taylor then he?!?

I mean, disagree if you want but to discredit his column like you know better then he... just who is the loser in that equation?!?
Pretty harsh and a little unnecessary if you ask me. But you did apologize so I give you credit for that.

But if you can't take some friendly ribbing over this than so be it, maybe it would be best if you don't post anymore like you said.

If you're gonna dish it out you have to expect some to come back your way.
