Moss Speed

I watched Moss highlights tonight and couldn't help but notice that he's fast...very fast...so fast that often times CBs seem to be going noticebly slower. I'm curious, what is Moss' 40 time?

I also noticed that most of the games where Moss was held in check teams basically boxed him in (CB under and safety over the top) with little margin for throw inaccuracy. I guess that's what the Bucs are going to do...hopefully the running game will be so good they won't be able to continue the double coverage approach.

I noticed the same thing about "boxing" Moss with the saftey and CB. That is why if you noticed lately they have ben putting Moss in motion so that he is already moving when the ball snaps and this way it kind of throws a curve ball at the saftey that is going to try to help out the CB attempting to cover him...

Oh, and as for his 40 time it is fast, no numbers just FAST!!!

Moss has great straight speed but it's not much faster than some other fast players in the league. Even some CBs probably have the same or similar times in the 40. I think even AB is faster technically than Moss. What Moss does better than anybody I have ever seen in the history of the world is go from stop to top speed in one step. His ability to accelerate is ridiculous. It is why he is hard to stop on the WR screens. CBs know its coming yet they still have a hard time getting a hold of him because he is moving at top speed immediately. It is truly amazing.

I agree, his quickness is insane. He can juke a would be tackler better than just about every receiver in the league. He also has ridiculous hands. I can't remember the last time he missed a pass that was within arms reach of him, which is why he is able to turn high or low passes into big gains.

And he seems to have picked up Marvin Harrison's ability to avoid big shots from defensive backs, by ducking their attempts to hit him high, which will go a long way in keeping him healthy.

This was especially true in the Eagles game; I saw the safety and CB collide multiple times because Moss would duck out of the way at just the right time.

Speaking of Moss as I was watching the game Sunday I was trying to remember the last time Moss droped a pass. I can remember a few he could have made a great play and cought the ball but could not remember any that where just a droped pass. Can anyone remember Moss just droping a pass?

He's dropped a couple this year, I want to say I remember him dropping one very recently, I can't remember against who though.

I think it was the Oakland or Arizona game where everyone(Moss, Cooley, Jacobs, Royal, etc.) was dropping balls, but that had to be a full moon or some other strange factor. There was one I can remember that hit Moss in the numbers and he missed it, but that's definitely a rarity for him.

Hey, I will give credit where credit is due and say that Steve Smith has the same kind of speed and elusiveness that Moss has. It will actually be fun to watch them line-up on opposite sides of the line during the Pro Bowl. If they were on the same team it would be unfair for the rest of the league.

Matty, I had not watched any Panther games this year, until week 17th (They were the early game here in KY until the Skins came on at 3pm my time)

The Panthers also run that slip screen or WR screen to Smith and he can take it to the house like Moss does for us. One on One in open field, the first guy always misses like Santana makes guys miss. They are so similar to me. In size and shiftyness. I am glad we won't face them in the playoffs. Steve Smith is the only other receiver that would actually scare me if the Skins faced them. Even if the Panthers beat the Giants, I don't see them playing well in cold Chicago, which is their path to the NFC Championship, should they continue to win.

i've watched Moss in amazement all season. he's the first skins receiver i've seen since Gary Clark to catch long TD passes in stride. unfortunately, he hasn't done that since Dallas, most of the balls he's caught since then haven't been as perfectly thrown.

which leaves me amazed at his HANDS. he waits to make last minute adjustments (important in not tipping off the defender) and they're always spot on. he catches practically everything thrown in his general direction! i think i've seen Santana do his 'first down' thing more this season than i saw clutch catches from Gardner and Westbrook in god knows how many seasons!

i dunno if its the gloves or he has giant hands but i specifically remember only TWO dropped passes so far this season and it's always been in heavy traffic. i don't know if as a skinsfan i just haven't been used to seeing true receiver talent in a long time but Santana Moss is *amazing*, truly something special.

that first giant game was one of those games you just insist never happened. there's no winning vs. the supernatural.
