But upon closer examination of gun ownership statistics and some quality time spent reasoning I am finding it harder and harder to rectify the fact the we as a nation have more guns than everyone else in the whole world combined yet we still have vast amount of crime often disproportional to other countries. The argument that guns stop crime is on pretty shaky ground and I have yet to see anyone that can show why we have all these guns yet crime isn't much better. I'd love to understand why.

Well a good example is that a kid can steal several cars and never serve a day in jail. I had a car stolen by a kid who had also stolen 3 prior cars. Never served anytime for any of those crimes. The only reason he served anytime for stealing my car is because he had turned 18. My guess is if that happened in any outher country he would have been in jail.
