His guaranteed money is only 26 million. Thats all that matters anyway is the guaranteed money. They have the option to void the final year of the contract in 2013.
They can take his salary in 2013 and convert it to a signing bonus and prorate that over 3 years. Which means his total salary cap numbers will be over the next 4 years are 3.2 for 2012 and 4.2 mil over the next 3 years after that.
In fact, all 6 free agents the Cowboys have signed this year will only count 11 million against the cap this year.

It's thirty three million in years 1-3, so it's really
$11 mil/year on Carr through the years where they can't move him b/c of the contract. After that point, it's two additional years at 8.5 mil, which is more reasonable.
Money is frontloaded because that's the only way he'd sign.
