Age and potential aside, Jackson would have been far more overpaid as a $13 mil/year no. 1 receiver than Rogers would have been as a $9 mil/year no. 1 CB in the Revis/Nnamdi pay grade, even a year ago.
Jackson is really overrated as a receiver, but the ability to go vertical on NFL safeties is not a skill that you typically find beyond the first round. And that's Jackson's true value. He's a polished player who can break a game wide open. He is not a consistent down to down NFL receiver. He simply doesn't catch the ball well enough.
Devery Henderson is a better offensive player than DeSean Jackson, so I think that's a good example of how limited the Eagles offense was compared to other elite teams in the NFC. There are teams like the Packers and Saints for whom hed be coming off the bench. And then there are teams like the Rams and Redskins who he'd be the unquestioned top receiving target.
