I've got two sets... my normal ones are the crappy ear buds that come with random mp3s players and they're actually pretty good (and disposable).

for loud environments (like uninsulated aircraft) I use my davis clarks... you can still hear people talking directly to you when the music is off, but outside that... silence. also free... well, except for the four year committment
