You don't think another week will give Stephen Jackson more time to get healthy and rejuvenated? It's suprising the lack of respect we're giving to the Rams right now. We haven't exactly gone out and taken them to the shed recently. They've won their fair share against us, with teams that would rank just as shitty as their current team, and it's definitely not a given with this current team.
Don't get me wrong, I hope we come out and wipe the floor with them. I hope their effort is futile by the end of the first quarter, just like it was against Baltimore. But rarely do you see teams get blown out in two consecutive weeks. In fact, look at how many teams we've blown out in recent years against opponents we were supposed to blow out.
We didn't blow out anybody in 2010.
The Raiders in 2009 (Rak's 4 sack game) 34-13 I believe. The lone blowout from the Jim Zorn Era.
Detroit, 2007, 34-3
Cowboys, 2007, 27-6 (final win in our playoff run)
49ers, 2005, 52-17
Rams, 2005, 24-9 (first win of our playoff run)
Cowboys, 2005, 35-7 (3rd win of our playoff run)
I could include the last two against the Giants and Eagles from that 2005 playoff run, but I don't feel they were real "blowout, no hope whatsoever by halftime" kinda wins. My point is that most of our blowout wins over the years have been from two teams that made the playoffs, and while I like this team, it hasn't shown the ability to put everything together in all phases to blow out one opponent in one game. I hope they do, don't get me wrong, I'm all in favor of the Redskins dominating opponents that deserve to be dominated, but it hasn't happened much over the years. And while I like our chances on defense against their offense, our offense hasn't really put it together in all phases of the game so far this year.
