I'm sure they study film, but so what. It's not the same as studying and knowing what's going around the league
and preparing a team week in and week out. I'm not saying they would be utter failures or anything, but what NFL coach has returned from a layoff and taken a team on a Super Bowl run or deep into the playoffs.
Sure if you want a marquee name to fill the seats and win a few games here and there, no problem. But I think the best minds in football are the ones that are active. Cower and Gruden have been out like three seasons now, right?
