Re: Haynesworth fails conditioning test
I think I'm feeling multiple reasons for this.
I think I agree with the reasoning that even if Big Al had finished the third 300 yard shuttle, Shanny would've made him run a fourth. This was pretty much about Shanny enforcing a point, that he's the coach and he's in charge. But there may have been sub-motivations in play here too. Like maybe this was also Shanny's way of trying to clear any negative air the rest of the players might've had towards Haynesworth, as was previously mentioned in this thread. Once the players see a slimmer Haynesworth than they saw last year, and they know he came in early and still tried to pass the test they are more likely to accept him back into the locker room. I doubt he fails again tomorrow, simply because Shanny doesn't want him missing too many practice days because of how many he's missed already this year. I wouldn't be suprised if he only had to run 2 300 yard shuttles tomorrow, and since he was able to do it today he'll probably be able to do it tomorrow.
Either way this isn't that big of an issue, by all accounts players are saying that he looks better than he did at this point last year and this is probably more about Shanny putting the foot down than about how out of shape Haynesworth is (I don't believe he's out of shape either, he's probably in great shape for a DE/DT.)
