That's because the domestic lager makers use rice malt as a grain supplement to keep the beer tasting "light" and "clean". Translation, flavorless.
You may not like Yeungling (I'm not a huge fan), but that is how a light lager made with actual malted barley, not rice is supposed to taste.
I homebrew my own, so domestic light is strictly for the "I'm at the ballpark and I want beer but it's too hot so I should really be drinking water, oh wait I can have both" moments.
