If we got rid of Campbell we could go into the year with Grossman starting (ugh) and have those extra picks to grab a qb for the future. All this does is reduce our ability to draft for the future, reduce our ability to get multiple LT/RTs, bring in a qb whose numbers were slightly better than what we had, and cost us a pick next year.

Yeah, no idea what they were thinking here, especially if the conclusion was that they couldn't win with a merely above average quarterback.
Maybe they were allured by McNabb's success as a playoff quarterback and thought that, if they were handed a team that was just a tackle away from making the postseason, they'd hate to have a run killed by finding out that Campbell doesn't perform well in the postseason. But, again, there's no evidence to suggest that playoff performance is a skill divergent from game performance, and even so, how arrogant would it be to change your quarterback based on the presumption that he can get you to the playoffs but can't win in them. Then there's the part where McNabb has continually come up short.
This is a complete grasp for straws, obviously. But there's little logic in this deal, period.
