You can still keep your players under this system, there's no reason you can't. It just takes smart management when it comes to the salary cap. We've got Jansen locked up for a while, don't we? And Lavar. And now Samuels?
Football has the best system because guys have to play at a level that justifies the contract that they signed. If they don't play up to that level of pay, guess what, they're canned. Just like the real world. I turn in a shitty financial plan to my boss, I get fired. Troy Brown was good, he sacrificed a lot for the Patriots, but when it comes down to it he's just not worth $5 million. Remember, he was forced into CB duty, but he's not a CB. And the Pats have other WRs that can do what he can do.
Loyalty is good, but only if you're loyal to the players who are worth it. Otherwise it's just poor decision-making.
