Former front office official Ray Wright has rejoined the Redskins as their top strength and conditioning coach.
After beginning his NFL career as a scouting intern with Washington in 1997, Wright was twice promoted by the team. He served as the college/pro scouting administrator in 1998 and became the director of player programs in 1999.
Wright, who spent the last eight seasons with the Houston Texans, will lead Washington's new strength and conditioning staff, which is being assembled after the team parted ways with their entire staff last month. Wright also held a personnel assistant position with the Chicago Bears and worked as a strength and conditioning coach at Maryland and Cornell University.
The Texans promoted Wright to their top position in 2009. Wright also spent seven seasons as Houston's assistant strength and conditioning coach. New offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan worked with Wright during his time on Houston's staff.
"The position of strength and conditioning coach demands a combination of youth and experience, and Ray delivers on both of those," Coach Mike Shanahan said in a news release. "He has learned from some of the best in the business, and he has incorporated their teachings into his own philosophies. We expect him to bring out the most from our players, starting with their offseason conditioning and continuing through the entire season."

That's cool that he's worked with both the Skins and Kyle Shanahan before. Sounds like he's well qualified.
