We want to waste a top 10 pick on Williams who did the same thing but his Collage system was more despirate/softer on him to let him back in a little double standards don't you think ?

The other reason I want to pick Clarett up or draft for RB is we might be extremely thin here. Rock is unlikely to return, Simon looked like an old stash job on IR but still might not be back and Morton looks to be shown the door after the emergance of Antonio Bates on ST and his contract. That gives us Betts and Portis and given there respective styles and injury records you can rely on neither one all season. We could pick up a buldozer back in FA but i don't see it and Clarett will probably be shunned by the PR of many teams.

Also the FA and trade wires will may be alive by the presence of some very good backs Drougns,(sp?), James, Henry looking for a trade and so on and so on.
I hope your point isn't that any of those 1000 yard rushers would be available and anxious to be a backup in Washington.

James is going to be franchised. Though I'm sure he wants some long term security, the $7 milllion-plus he's going to receive will keep him from becoming too despondent.

Henry wants a trade, because although he is being paid like a starter, he wants to showcase his value to make even more. The fact that the money (which we don't really have) isn't enough for him, and the carries (which we don't really have) are what he wants should keep him off the roster.

Droughns is a special case. Though this was a breakout year for him, he's not a young man - next season will be his sixth. In his first 4 seasons, he had a total of 40 carries, working primarily on special teams and as a fullback. He wants "paid", because he'll be 27 at the beginning of next season, and likely won't see another big payday in his career.

Now, if your suggestion is that the "second-tier" backs will be more spread out because those talents are out there, only time will tell. I'm curious as to why an entrenched starter (Portis) with a promising backup (Betts) would need pressing from an undersized malcontent who couldn't get in shape for workouts that could make him a millionaire last year (me... I mean Clarett).
