I wonder if this may be a pre-emptive strike on Danny Boy. Perhaps Coach Joe got wind of the next free agent master plan the racquetball buddies (Vinny and Danny) were scheming up and decided to publicly pop it before it took on a life of its own.

We all see Gibbs as the coach (where his authority is undisputed), but we have to remember he is also the President (a more mysterious area of responsibility). Now, Dan is stuck b/c he can't "go against" Gibbs. "But, Coach, Jeff George is a changed man, I'm tellin ya..."
