I understand and I respect your position. It is my belief however that soldiers didn't die for the flag and the flag should not represent ideas or people. People and ideas speak for themselves. Truth is nations evolve and people evolve for better or worse but flags do not (unless there's a fundamental change in a nation ala revolution). If in the future, for example, we become tyrannical like Nazi Germany our flag would no longer represent the ideas and ideals of people in the past or present.
All I'm saying is don't put too much stock in flags and lapel pins. They are not that important.
