I know you were just responding to usmc and you wouldn't hold your crotch during the national anthem. But, keep in mind that whatever your politics, that flag has draped the coffins of thousand of U.S. soldiers, sailors and airmen who have fought and died for this country. A vast majority of them were volunteers. It drapes the coffin of most veterans when they pass away and will drape mine. The U.S. Flag symbolizes the ideas and people of this country.
