I agree. Plus, bottom-up staff hiring is rarely effective. The head coach has to be comfortable with his staff, but, more importantly, the head coach needs a strategic vision for the team. Usually, that means the assistant coaches need to fill particular roles, as opposed to assembling an "all star" lineup. Time will tell if this will work, but there is no question it is against the grain.
