Granted to make an accurate assesment you would have to look at the win/loss record versus the spread, but last year teams going into a bye-week had 12 wins and 20 losses. Teams playing after their bye-week were 19 wins and 13 losses. Again this isn't against the spread, but it looks like you would prefer to play a team who is about to go on a Bye, and don't want to play a team who is comming off a Bye. If there really is a statistical advantage, then I think it's unfair for the schedule makers not to factor Bye-weeks into the equation.
