Nobody wants the 6th pick. Including the Bears. We obviously made no secret about the fact we would prefer to trade down and acquire more picks. But thus far we have no takers. And the Bears have no need for any of the players worthy of the 6th pick, plus they don't want to pick up a rookie contract of that size. So they would want to trade the pick, and they have seen how hard that can be based on our inability to do so.

So in their eyes if they make the trade with us:
1) They get a pick they don't need or want
2) They lose a pick they could really use
3) They lose a pro-bowl player for a draft choice- proven player for potential - not good
4) They send a message to their players that hey, if you're not happy, this is how you get outta town and get paid.

I don't see an upside for Chicago. I don't blame them for nixing the deal.
