A GM with stones would have challenged Gre-double GG's idea of taking a strong safety enforcer and converting him to a free safety coverage guy. That's a risk all by itself. The only way that move makes any sense is if the Redskins thought Sean Taylor would have a new Dade County address last season. That was a 50-50 proposition at the time.
But, selecting players by name recognition, poor concepts of roster fits, over-paying for one player when you might have signed three good role players, and dumping a guy who will likely start for a Super Bowl caliber defense for a sixth round draft choice are evidence of the need for a good, strong general manager. The whole crappy deal is on the front office, not Archuleta.
